www.benzo.org.uk

I have included this link for family and friends of anyone who is trying to get off a benzodiazepine (Klonopin, Xanax, Ativan, and Valium) to name a few, these drugs are often prescribed by doctors for anxiety and sleep problems. My experience has taught me that when it comes to getting help with treatment and detox, a "cookie cutter" approach is not always the best answer . Treatment centers and detoxes can be life saving for many however when it comes to the "Benzos" I subscribe to supporting people in a slow medically supervised taper per the Ashton Manual based on the work of Dr. Heather Ashton. If you are a caretaker or loved one of someone dealing with the  discontinuation of this type of drug, I hope you will take the time to understand how this withdrawal process has unique challenges. It is important to understand how this drug affects the nervous system with long use regardless of how a person came to be chemically dependent upon it. For additional information and understanding please watch this short video.
